螺桿式空壓機進氣閥的工作過程是：啟動.加載.卸載.容調.停機

（1）啟動。電機啟動，主機開始運轉，進氣閥關閉狀態閥芯上的小孔進氣，經過壓縮的油氣進入油氣桶，系統壓力逐漸上升。
（2）加載。電機是三角轉換，控制系統（壓力開關）會比較系統的實際壓力與設定壓力，當系統壓力低于壓力開關設定下限壓力時，壓力開關動作使加載電磁閥（三向電磁閥）加電三向電磁閥開啟，向進氣門伺服汽缸供氣推動控制氣缸打開蝶閥，進氣閥全開吸氣；經由電磁閥的壓力同時關閉泄放閥，機器不再放空，罐內壓力持續上升至向外供氣。
（3）卸載。當壓力上升到壓差開關上限壓力時，壓差開關發出一個電信號給三向電磁閥，電磁閥關閉停止向進氣門伺服氣缸供氣，控制氣缸不受壓則蝶閥關閉維持小孔進氣，此時受配重控制止回閥能及時迅速的緊密關閉，同時泄放閥打開釋放油氣桶內壓力至基本油壓。空壓機處于空載運行，在加載電磁閥連續失電20min后，系統進入空車過久停車狀態。
（4）容調。空壓機加載過程中為減少空壓機的空重負荷次數，安裝有反比例閥，當機組壓力達到壓力開關上限前反比例閥提前動作，減少向伺服汽缸的供氣量，進氣閥伺服氣缸閥桿推力減少，在彈簧力的作用下閥桿回縮，當彈簧力與氣缸的氣體推力平衡時，閥桿處于半開狀態，進氣量減少實現空壓機的容量調節。
（5）停機。停機信號來自空車過久或系統壓力長時間處于壓力上限，電機停止，主機停轉不再吸氣，進氣閥的內部止回閥迅速關閉確保沒有停機吐油的現象，泄放閥持續放空至外部大氣壓力。
